Today’s newsletter is a little bit different because I have something new and exciting to share with you. I am collaborating with Chuck Joiner of “MacVoices” on a show called “TV+ Talk”. As the name suggests, we will be discussing all things Apple TV+ and it will go out every few weeks (normal service on here in between episodes). TV+ Talk will be available on both our YouTube channels and podcast feeds.
I assume if you’re reading this newsletter you already get the “The Addition Podcast”. If not, why not?! It has amazing guests every week and I just reached 50 episodes! It is available wherever you normally listen to podcasts. If you want to see Chuck and me in glorious technicolour, subscribe to The Addition’s YouTube channel. I intend to start putting a lot more content on there so hit the “subscribe” button and make sure you don’t miss anything. If you enjoy it, please share and let other people know!
I’ve covered Apple TV+ closely from the start. It confirmed Apple’s shift from being a technology company into a media one to me. Things started off slowly for Apple TV+, but it is now a well-established, Oscar-winning service that offers a great range of content, including live sport. Given its low price point, it is a serious challenger to its rivals like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The focus on quality not quantity may be starting to pay off. Apple is clearly seriously committed to producing original shows and movies, while dipping its toe in the sports rights game.
The idea for “TV+ Talk” came about after I joined “MacVoices” to discuss Apple’s streaming service with Chuck. We had a lot of fun, so we decided to do it more regularly! The aim is to publish an episode about once a month, depending on our schedules. There is a lot happening on Apple TV+ so there should be plenty to talk about. Of course, if there is a show or movie on the service that you either love or hate and you want us to discuss it, make sure you leave a comment in the appropriate places! It would be great to hear from you.
In the opening episode of “TV+ Talk”, we discuss where we think Apple TV+ is at and Apple’s position in the media ecosystem. We also reveal our favourite shows and, of course, discuss episodes one and two of “Ted Lasso” season three.
