The BBC is always under scrutiny, but lately, it is having a particularly tough time. In recent weeks, it has faced difficult questions about its chairman Richard Sharp, transitioned to a combined news channel for both the UK and the rest of the world, and been tangled up in a major impartiality row thanks to Gary Lineker. All the while, significant numbers of layoffs are happening, with years of experience walking out of Broadcasting House.

Jamie Angus knows the BBC better than most. He edited two of its flagship radio programmes - “Today” and “The World at One.” He also has experience of both the management and global aspects of the corporation, having risen to become the director of the World Service Group. Now COO of Arabic radio station Al Arabiya, he joins the podcast this week to give invaluable insight into what is going on at the BBC.
